ecoAgriculture Biofuels Capital Initiative (ecoABC)
The ecoABC Initiative is a federal $200 million four-year program ended on March 31, 2011. Funding is conditional upon agricultural producer investment in the biofuel projects, and the use of agricultural feedstock to produce the biofuel.

Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF) for Gaz Métro Clients
Drain Water Heat Recovery Systems
This program is designed to encourage the installation of Power-Pipe drain water heat recovery systems to reduce energy consumption for hot-water-heating systems.
Rebate on the Purchase of Certified ENERGY STAR Windows
The EEF will pay five dollars per square foot of ENERGY STAR qualified energy-efficient sliding doors and windows installed in the home, up to a maximum of $500.

Financial Aid for Renovations - Housing Cooperatives and Non-Profit Community Groups
Gazifère's renovation program targets improvements to the thermal envelopes of buildings in order to make them more energy efficient. To encourage an energy efficient approach to renovations, Gazifère offers financial assistance of $2 per cubic meter of natural gas saved following renovation work done on the building envelope. This program is available to housing cooperatives and non-profit community groups that provide assistance to the economically disadvantaged. Green Technologies Demonstration Program  ● Commercial Led Lighting
The purpose of the program is to finance demonstration projects of innovative technologies and procedures that have strong potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Quebec. Any firm established in Quebec that has developed or adapted an innovative technology or procedure that leads to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, or any firm that has the rights to technology developed by a Quebec institution. The program focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by:

• supporting the development of technologies that limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions

• improving energy efficiency so as to reduce consumption of fossil fuels

• replacing fuels and fossil fuels with renewable energy

• contributing to the development of Quebec industry and job creation in the green technology sector...

Heavy Oil Consumption Reduction Program
This program helps consumers of heavy oil make the move toward sustainable development and improve their competitiveness by reducing their oil consumption. Financial aid is available for conducting analyses and for implementing energy efficient measures that target heavy oil or that focus on switching to less polluting sources of energy such as natural gas and the forest biomass. This program is financed by the Green Fund of the PACC action plan (Plan d'action sur les changements climatiques 2006-2012)....
Novoclimat
Novoclimat is a new home program available to consumers interested in buying a home with a high energy efficiency rating. In addition to improving by a minimum of 25% the energy efficiency of buildings, the Novoclimat program encourages the home construction industry to continually improve its building techniques. On a voluntary basis, contractors take training courses that lead to a Novoclimat certification. They receive technical support and the homes they build are inspected during the construction phase and certified by the Government of Quebec if they satisfy all applicable requirements...
Refrigeration Optimization Program
This program supports owners of arenas in an effort to optimize existing refrigeration systems. Apart from the substantial amount of energy they consume, the systems often use refrigerants that are harmful to the environment, as they produce greenhouse gases that could be curbed or eliminated altogether. The goal of the program is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. It has three main objectives: optimizing heat recovery systems by integrating the refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, adapting the refrigeration system to climactic conditions in Quebec, using more environmentally safe refrigerants and reducing the amount of refrigerants in the systems...
Rénoclimat ● Lighting
Rénoclimat is a green energy renovation program for owners of single family, semi-detached or row houses. It includes an energy audit conducted both before and after your retrofit. An energy efficiency advisor performs an on-site energy rating of your home. The program also offers access to financial assistance. The list of items to be analyzed during the initial audit before renovation work begins includes:

• house site and building exterior (structure, foundations, framework, chimney, exterior wall cladding, doors and windows, ground slope and grade, drainage, etc.);

• the interior structure of the house (foundation walls, floors, structural elements, walls, etc.);

• insulation and air tightness;

• heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems;

• energy consumption habits (hot water, lighting and household appliances)...

Support for the Manufacturing Sector Program
This program helps manufacturers make the move toward sustainable development and improve their competitiveness by reducing their consumption of certain target fuels (light fuel oil, propane and butane). Financial aid is available for conducting analyses, and for implementing energy efficiency measures as regards these target fuels. This program is financed by the Green Fund of the PACC action plan (Plan d'action sur les changements climatiques 2006-2012). There are two components to the program. The first is analysis. The Government of Quebec provides financial assistance for conducting energy analyses, value analyses, feasibility studies and analyses of proper integration of better fuel consumption practices. The second is implementation. The Government of Quebec provides financial assistance to encourage the implementation of measures that lead to an ongoing reduction in the consumption of these target fuels....

Hydro-Québec wants to encourage pilot projects designed to test the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of opportunities proposed by customers. The opportunities could be based on implementation of technologies not in widespread use or undeveloped commercial strategies. The purpose of AVENUES is to develop new energy efficiency markets based on measures that could eventually be incorporated into the Energy Efficiency Plan. By conducting a pilot project, you can

• test the capacity of the market to support it;

Geothermal Systems
If you decide on a geothermal system, you can get a grant from Hydro-Québec. For exisiting detached houses, additional financial assistance is available through the Rénoclimat program offered by Québec's Agence de l'efficacité énergétique, as well as the ecoENERGY Retrofit program offered by Natural Resources Canada. The design and installation of a geothermal system require specialized knowledge of earth energy and expertise in geothermal technology. Familiarity with applicable municipal and provincial regulations is also needed. Be sure to do business with a CGC-accredited firm, which can guide you through the planning and installation of your system...
IDEAS - Technology Demonstration and Experimentation Initiatives
Through IDEAS, Hydro-Québec wishes to contribute to energy efficiency technology at a critical point in the development cycle, namely the stage in between R&D and commercialization. We hope that by providing support at this crucial point, when the cost-effectiveness or viability of emerging technologies has not yet been proven, we can stimulate the market and encourage customers to initiate demonstration and experimentation projects. Technology demonstration or showcase projects are field deployments that serve to test the benefits, cost-effectiveness and relevance of new technologies or new applications of existing technologies. Experimentation projects are laboratory tests to determine the technical performance and energy efficiency of new technologies. Hydro-Québec's aim in supporting such initiatives is to increase electricity savings through the use of highly efficient technologies. ecoENERGY Efficiency - Regulations
The Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) is working to improve the energy efficiency of consumer products and equipment in Canada by amending Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulations. The OEE helps Canadians make energy-efficient choices when buying, selling or manufacturing energy-using equipment. By prescribing minimum energy efficiency performance levels, inefficient energy-using equipment is eliminated from the Canadian market.

• EnerGuide for Equipment rates and labels the energy efficiency of major household electrical appliances and heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment. The EnerGuide label shows how much energy major appliances use so you can easily compare models of the same size and class.

• The international ENERGY STAR® symbol identifies the most energy-efficient products in their class. Products that carry the ENERGY STAR symbol meet premium levels of energy efficiency - most are 10 to 50 percent more efficient than the minimum regulated standard in Canada...
